Every now & then I stop in at the SpiceWorks vendor forums to get a sense of how real IT users are reacting to various solutions. I look at the products carried by my company, Southern Data Storage, and also occasionally at competitors, just to see what users are saying about them. It’s amazing what you can learn about a product by reading unvarnished opinions from users. I highly recommend it. Sometimes insights are there for the taking, such as:
Nobody likes backup – or so I thought
After 20+ years in the storage & backup sectors of the IT biz, there is one thing I thought I could confidently say: nobody likes backup. It’s not hard to figure 
out why. For decades businesses have been coping with backup “solutions” whose reliability approaches that of weather forecasting.
Then Unitrends comes along and challenges that universal truth. Don’t take my word for it; look at the real-world user comments http://community.spiceworks.com/product/27131-unitrends. While there are a few naysayers on the forum who have had less-than-stellar experiences (you can’t please everybody) it’s pretty remarkable how positive the majority of the user comments are.
Some guys are still intent on kickin’ it old-school

See what I mean? Amazing difference, straight from the users. So if you, like me, have always subscribed to the “nobody likes backup” philosophy, maybe it’s time to reevaluate your thinking.
